Green lentils have a strong, characteristic taste. These lentils have the longest cooking time, but they remain solid. That is why they are well suited for use in salads or other side dishes. Lentils are the edible seeds of lentil bushes. They are pulses, just like beans and peas. They exist in all kinds of colors and variety's. In many countries in Southeast-Asia, like India and Pakistan, lentils are a essential part of the regional cuisine. Lentils are known as ingredient for millenniums. There is archaeological evidence that we already ate lentils around 10.000 years ago.
Lentils have a relative long cooking time, so they are actually not suited for quick meals. However, we precooked the lentils so this stew is ready in no time. Just add boiling water to the filling line on the package and leave for 5 minutes. Stir it a little and it's ready to go.
