Oregano has a typical herbal scent, tastes lightly sweet and a bit peppery. Oregano is especially loved in the Greek, Italian and Mexican kitchen. Oregano should be added as late as possible to a dish in order to preserve its flavour. Don't use it too lavish, as it can quickly dominate the flavour. Oregano is used in pasta sauces, on pizza's, with vegetable dishes, soups and in marinades for fish and meat. Oregano has several health benefits: it works i.e. antiseptic, fungicidal and is good for the digestion. Besides that, it is a source of several antioxidants, vitamins and minerals and therefore a boost for the immune system.
