Sunflower oil is pressed from the pits of the sunflower. The pits contain approximately 45% oil. It is a clear, pretty thin, fluid vegetable oil with lots of vitamine E and a high grade of multiple unsaturated fatty acids (omega 6 and 9). The oil has a soft, neutral taste, a light-yellow color and can be kept for up to one year. It is very popular as frying oil, because the oil is resistant to the heat. The extorted oil is being processed to i.e. lengthen the shelf life. This processed or 'refined' sunflower oil has not only have a longer durability, but also a higher smoke barrier (such as 190 till 230 degrees in Celsius). During great heat, such as with frying, a lot of the nutritional value and vitamines is being lost.
This product is produced in a facility that also processes nuts, peanuts, sesame, wheat and gluten.
