After a period of limited availability, our delicious Brooks mango strips are back in stock. Even better: we have them on special offer in our online shop!
Different Varieties? Absolutely.
Mangoes are a beloved fruit worldwide, with over 1,000 varieties cultivated across the globe. In the Netherlands too, mango strips are a popular snack – thanks in part to their lower sugar content compared to other dried fruits.
As we’ll soon be switching to a different variety – the Amélie mango – we’ve outlined the key differences for you below.
Brooks Mango
This variety, originally from Florida, is said to have gained popularity after being planted in the early 20th century on the estate of a certain Mr. Brooks in Miami.
-Shape: Oval, without the typical mango “beak”
-Colour: Turns yellow with a lovely red blush as it ripens
-Flavour: Mild and sweet
Thanks to their flavour and firm texture, Brooks mango strips are ideal for use in ice cream, desserts, and baked goods. When puréed, they’re also delicious in salads, dressings, and dips.
Amélie Mango
The Amélie mango likely spread from the Caribbean in the 18th century and is now widely grown in West Africa.
-Shape: Round, often with a pointed tip
-Colour: Green to pale yellow, sometimes with a red blush
-Flavour: Fresh, sweet, and aromatic – with hints of vanilla or citrus
The delicate flesh gives the dried mango a soft, chewy texture that many customers love. Silky smooth, intensely flavourful, and 100% organic – the Amélie mango is the perfect successor to our popular mango strips.
