Pumpkin bread

A recipe for a delicious pumpkin bread

Ingredients for 1 loaf:


- 1 bottle-pumpkin, peeled and cut into pieces (approx. 500 grams)

- salt and pepper

- 500 grams of whole wheat flour

- 1 sachet of dried yeast (7 grams)

- 50 grams pumpkin seeds + extra for garnish



- Preheat the oven to 175 degrees

- Place the pumpkin pieces on a baking tray and sprinkle with salt and pepper

- Roast the pumpkin in the oven for about 30 minutes

- Mash the pumpkin pieces with a fork


- Mix the whole wheat flour with the yeast and 1 teaspoon salt

- Make a well in the middle and add 150 ml there. lukewarm water and pumpkin puree

- Knead the flour little by little by the water

- Now add the pumpkin seeds

- Knead for a total of 10 to 15 minutes into a smooth dough


- Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.


- Divide the dough into 3 long strands and make a braid, pressing the ends well together

- Moisten the dough slightly at the top and sprinkle pumpkin seeds on top

- Cover and let the braided dough rise for another 40 minutes


- Bake the bread for 30 minutes in an oven at 220 degrees
