Just like grain flakes, rice flakes are being made by crushing the grains. This way, the rice flakes are light digestible and easy to prepare hot and cold. Rice flakes are especially popular in Southeast-Asia, where they are being used for all kinds of dishes - both sweet and savory. Our rice flakes are incredibly healthy, because they are made of brown rice. Brown rice is not stripped of its nutritious skin. Brown rice contains relatively much fibers and proteins. It is also a good source of i.e. essential minerals like mangaan, magnesium and phosphorus. In order to make the flakes, the moisture content of the grain is raised by means of steam. The grains are then flattened by flattening machines, where they come out as flat flakes. It is almost impossible to flatten grains without steam, because the extra moisture makes sure that the grains are flattened instead of crumbled.
